Do all things geeky and queer make you squee? Are you a regular maven with numbers? We’re looking for someone who can be the head of all things finance to ensure, among other things, the continued success of the world’s largest queer comic convention, Flame Con!
The best candidate for this position will have a passion for volunteering with queer organizations, good oral and verbal communication skills, leadership experience, and experience and comfort with the following responsibilities and tools:
Responsibilities
- Chairing the Finance Committee
- Assisting President & Vice President in preparation of budget
- Circulating financial information to Board and public
- Supervising Sponsorship Team Maintaining financial records — including maintaining the Geeks OUT finance share drive
- Communicating regularly with Bookkeeper to categorize and audit expenses
- Communicating regularly with accountants for tax-related documents and processes to ensure maintaining 501-3c tax compliance
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts and contract addendums in concert with Executive Committee members
- Issuing stipends and payments
- Updating and managing budgeting data
- Monitoring financial account activities and balances and keeping regular payment schedules

Time Commitment
You would check email at least every few days, be at the monthly Board meetings, monthly Steering meetings, monthly Executive/Finance meetings, and monthly Sponsorship meetings. Plus the time for handling the responsibilities mentioned above.
