HBO's epic fantasty series, Game of Thrones, is nothing if not consistent. Not only has it continuously provided some of the best televised entertainment in recent years, but it also has yet to shy away from overt sexual content. This is not necessarily a bad thing for a series that is clearly attempting to stay as true to the source material as possible. There are plenty of scenes in the novels that would likely call for nudity in a televised adaptation.
Faithful viewers of the show have, undoubtedly, become more familiar with the bared assets of some cast members moreso than others. Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Esmé Bianco (Ros), Natalia Taena (Osha), Carice Van Houten (Melisandre), and countless extras portraying brothel employees are among the Westerosi nudists. Hmmm, if only I could put my finger on what all these cast members have in common.
Sibel Kekilli, who portrays the iron-willed prostitute, Shae, has spoken out for all admirers of the male body at a recent press conference in London. While discussing nudity on the show and whether or not she would welcome the shedding of clothes by her male co-stars, the German actress responded, "Yes, of course. Why are all the women naked? I mean good-looking guys. I want to see Conleth Hill and [Nikolaj Coster-Waldau] and Peter Dinklage.” She then added, jokingly, "We’re going to talk to [writers] David Benioff and Dan Weiss."
Fellow Thrones cast members, Carice Van Houten and Finn Jones, who play Melisandre and Ser Loras Tyrell, respectively, have also shared Kekilli's sentiments in past interviews.
Season four of Game of Thrones premiers on April 6th and will introduce the characters of Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal) and Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) who were rumored to be swinging bisexuals when introduced in A Storm of Swords. Below is the most recent trailer...
