Man, there are heroes & then there are heroes, right?
The site Bidding for Good hosts auctions where people can bid on items such as cruises, fine art, and sports tickets to benefit various charities. Beginning October 3, geeks holding at least $500 (the minimum opening bid) can enter the auction for a chance to visit the set of Avengers 2: Age of Ultron as "the personal guest of writer and director Joss Whedon."
One of our favorite geek sites, The Mary Sue, reports:
This exclusive set visit takes you and a guest behind the scenes of the Avengers 2: Age of Ultron as the personal guest of writer and director Joss Whedon. The winner will get the first look at what is sure to be Summer 2015′s box office blockbuster on its London set. See Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, the Black Widow, and the Hulk in action as they prepare to take on their next foe, Ultron. The set visit will include meeting Joss Whedon in addition to watching the behind-the-scenes action.
Who gets the money? The Downtown Women's Center of Los Angeles, which for 35 years has provided permanent housing and resources to homeless and very low-income women in LA's Skid Row community.
Bidding opens October 3rd and closes October 13, 2013.
Here's an updated description of the item up for bid, provided by DWC.org:
