Queer Geek News Roundup: November 6, 2016

  • Disney announced that its big-budget adaptation of Madeline L'Engle's YA fantasy/sci-fi classic, A Wrinkle in Time, from director Ava DuVernay (Selma) has begun filming, with an cast that includes Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling.

  • Warner Bros. released a new trailer for Wonder Woman, which features our favorite Amazon kicking butt (with perhaps too much slow-mo, and not enough emphasis on the mythological fantasy elements of her backstory). Will her queerness make it into the movie? I'm not optimistic.

  • In other DC superhero movie news, WB also released a new trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie, the spinoff of 2014's The LEGO Movie that features Will Arnett reprising his role as a hilariously conceited version of the Dark Knight.
